Every year countless pieces of oral care products and packaging end up in landfill sites across the UK.

TerraCycle® and Colgate® have partnered to create a free recycling programme for all oral care products and packaging to put an end to this enormous loss of resources. The Colgate® Oral Care Recycling Programme allows them to recycle oral care products and packaging and prevent them from ending up in landfill.

Glasgow Eco Trust is taking part in the TerraCycle® oral care recycling programme for all oral care products and packaging including toothbrushes and empty toothpaste tubes and we want you to get involved too! If you recycle your oral care products you will not only be helping the environment, but the waste you recycle will help Glasgow Eco Trust raise funds.

The programme will accept the following items:

• Any brand of toothbrushes
• Any brand of toothpaste tube and caps (please ensure the tube is completely empty)
• Any brand of toothbrush outer packaging
• Any brand of toothpaste cartons
• Any brand of electric and battery toothbrush heads
• Any brand of dental floss containers and outer floss packaging 

So what are you waiting for - get collecting and you can drop off your old toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes and packaging at our office!

In 2019 we sent off 142 toothbrushes, 30 electric brush heads, 152 toothpaste tubes, 49 toothpaste tube boxes, 37 toothbrush outer packaging and 7 plastic toothpaste pump tubes.

We do not accept:

• Interdental Brushes
• Toothache Kits
• Breath Sprays
• Denture Adhesives Packaging
• Denture Tablets Packaging
• Denture Cream Tubes
• Battery Toothbrushes
• Mouthwash Plastic Bottles
• Tubes that did not contain toothpaste
• Outer packaging that did not contain toothbrushes
• Cartons that did not contain toothpaste
