Glasgow Eco Trust are the current Voluntary Sector Network substitute representative on the Ward 13 Garscadden Scotstounhill Area Partnership

What is an Area Partnership?

Area Partnerships are part of the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership structure. Community planning is about the structure, processes and behaviours necessary to ensure that organisations work together and with communities to improve the quality of peoples’ lives, through more effective, joined up and appropriate delivery of services.

There are 23 Area Partnerships across the city - one for every electoral ward in the city.

The role of the Area Partnership includes:

  • reviewing and influencing the operational progress made at an electoral ward level towards implementing the strategic priorities of the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership (GCPP) and Glasgow City Council (GCC), including those identified in the Glasgow Community Plan, Sector implementation plan and Sector investment strategy.
  • receiving reports and feedback from appropriate partners and structures on the implementation of the strategic priorities of the GCPP and GCC at an electoral ward level.
  • providing opportunities for communities to engage with the local community planning process.
  • oversee an area grants process, as part of the Integrated Grants Fund

Representatives

The following stakeholders are currently represented on the Area Partnership

  • Local Councillors for the Ward, one of whom shall Chair the area partnership
  • Community representatives - no less than 4 and no more than 6 - usually there are representatives from all the community councils in the Ward. For Ward 13 this is Yoker, Knightswood and Scotstoun.
  • Police Service of Scotland
  • Scottish Fire & Rescue Service
  • NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (Glasgow CHP)
  • Voluntary Sector Networks

The North West Glasgow Voluntary Sector Network (NWGVSN) supports local voluntary sector organisations to have a voice at the area partnership meetings.

Neil Lovelock, Glasgow Eco Trust Project Manager, is currently the substitute Voluntary Sector Network representative for Ward 13.

To help understand the different stakeholder groups in the Ward we have compiled a useful online MindMap of the Ward showing a range of organisations, some of which are represented on the Area Partnership.
