Movement For Good 2023 Winners BadgeGlasgow Eco Trust has won a £5,000 climate and environment Movement for Good Award from Benefact Group thanks to nominations from the public.

Glasgow Eco Trust has been selected to receive a £5,000 donation as part of Benefact Group's Movement for Good Awards, which is giving over £1million to charities for the fifth year running.

The funding will go towards Glasgow Eco Trust’s community-led climate action that is making a difference for people, place and planet.

Members of the public were invited to nominate a climate and environment charity to receive one of 10 special grants and winners, including Glasgow Eco Trust, were drawn at random.

Neil Lovelock, Glasgow Eco Trust Project Manager, says:

“We are delighted to have won £5,000 in the climate and environment Movement for Good draw. This will allow us to continue to deliver community-led climate action in west Glasgow. This will also contribute to our #GET23in23 fundraiser where we are aiming to raise £23,000 in 2023 and we will also be able to use this as match funding to secure more funding. Many thanks to everyone that voted for us.”

Mark Hews, Group Chief Executive of Benefact Group, says:

“The threat of climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our customers and communities and we are committed to making a positive environmental impact. We would like to thank every single person who took the time to nominate a climate and environment charity as part of our Movement for Good Awards. Benefact Group is the third largest corporate donor in the UK and has an ambition to be the biggest. Owned by a charity, all of its available profits go to good causes, and the more the Group grows, the more the Group can give. We know that £5,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that climate and environment charities do and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will help to protect our planet.”

Benefact Group has donated almost £200million to charitable causes since 2014 and has been recognised as the third biggest corporate giver in the UK. The organisation aims to reach £250million in donations by 2025.

Benefact Group is committed to driving positive environmental change in society, and is reducing its own carbon impact, as well as supporting customers and communities to reduce theirs. It has set out a roadmap to reach net zero emissions by 2040. You can read more about its climate commitments here
