Case study - April 2021

This case study has been kindly completed by Elspeth Gracey, who is one of our valued Community Green Team volunteers.

The following is a case study of one of our adult led cycle ride participants. The case study highlights the positive impact that cycling has had in their life.

Cycling Experience

“I’ve had a bike for years. Used it on and off but never stuck with it. Now I’m never off it.”

Knowledge and Skills

“I know more about safety now - they teach you that.”

“I’m trying to get a course on bike maintenance - Covid put a stop to it when I applied last year - I’d like to know a bit more.”

Confidence

“My confidence is good - I cannae believe it. I don’t think I had it before, never felt as  confident as I do now on the bike.”

“Yep feel a bit more confident overall.”

Health and Wellbeing

“It’s a definite plus. Getting out on the bike can help to lift my mood, I suffered depression before - now I just get out on the bike.”

“They tell people to live healthy and it’s definitely a good way to live.”

Connected to the Community

“I’ve got to know more people. Sometimes we meet up with others for a wee ride from time to time.”

“I’ll join in if somebody suggests it, I’m not an organiser myself but I’ll go along.”

“I enjoy the chats. There are good chats in the group.”

Sense of control and resilience

“Maybe slightly cos I’m a bit happier”

Impact on the Environment

“More aware of what’s around and enjoy it.”

Anything else

“Its a good thing. I hope it gets it’s funding”

“It’s a definite plus. Getting out on the bike can help to lift my mood, I suffered depression before - now I just get out on the bike.”
