Join the Glasgow Eco Trust Community Green Team as a volunteer Play Together On Pedals Assistant to help out at Play Together On Pedals drop-in sessions.

Purpose of Role

Play Together on Pedals is a preschool and family cycling project, encouraging families to get active through enjoying the fun and freedom of cycling together.  The goal of the project is to give young people confidence in learning about cycling. The Play Together On Pedals Assistant is an essential part of a team and helps with the smooth running of the event.

Task Description

We are looking for volunteers who can assist at Play Together On Pedals events. Their main duties will include:

  • Being the first point of contact and welcoming participants.
  • Ensuring that all participants have registered their details; treating the information sensitively and safeguarding any information gathered.
  • Monitoring the numbers of participants that are waiting to join in and managing the order to ensure a fair and smooth event.
  • Promoting opportunities and activities within the area.

Accountable to

During the event you will be accountable to either Glasgow Eco Trust staff or Play Together On Pedals staff; this will be advised at the start of any session.

Support and Supervision

Support and supervision will be provided by Glasgow Eco Trust staff.  Volunteers will be encouraged to access any relevant training delivered by Glasgow Eco Trust and partners.  Volunteers are able to claim the cost of their travel to and from their volunteering on production of a receipt.  If you are volunteering for over 4 hours then a meal will be provided.

Time Commitment Required

Sessions are fortnightly on a Sunday 12.45pm – 3.15pm, which allows 15 mins before and after the public access the event.

Sessions may take place at other locations as advertised.

  • The majority of events will be held at Scotstoun Sports Campus (Outdoor Hall), 72 Danes Drive, Glasgow, G14 9HD; Glasgow Eco Trust will advise you in advance if there is any opportunity to participate in similar events in other locations.
  • We can pay volunteers expenses which can include travel and lunch costs
