Join the Glasgow Eco Trust Community Green Team as a volunteer Community Spaces Assistant to help out in various local community gardens and spaces.

Purpose of Role

Glasgow Eco Trust undertake various projects throughout the year working in community spaces and community gardens.

Task Description

Get out and about in the fresh air, meet new people and keep fit! Come along and help out with our local community spaces. This might involve:

  • Digging and planting
  • Weeding and maintenance
  • Construction projects e.g raised beds, polytunnels
  • Helping develop and improve existing spaces

Skills and Personal Qualities

This is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in community spaces. We are looking for people with:

  • Positive attitude
  • Reasonable level of fitness
  • Enjoy being outdoors
  • Desire to get involved in the community and improving community spaces
  • Experience of gardening is desirable but not essential

Accountable to

Staff will be on hand at all times to guide volunteers with tasks

Support and Supervision

Support and supervision will be provided by Glasgow Eco Trust staff. Protective equipment will be provided. Volunteers will be encouraged to access any relevant training delivered by Glasgow Eco Trust and partners.

Time Commitment Required

Sessions usually last between 2 and 4 hours. Sessions can last longer dependent on volunteer availability and weather. This opportunity can be done on a drop-in or regular basis as suits the volunteer. 

  • Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm
  • Other days and times as advertised

Other information

  • The volunteer role will be based at various locations in west Glasgow
  • We can pay volunteers expenses which can include travel and lunch costs
